This is a beginning level reading course offered for freshmen. It aims to help students expand vocabulary, develop reading strategies, and improve reading comprehension.

1. Offer activities to help students comprehend the assigned erading and the
meaning of new vocabulary.
2. PRovide opportunities to let students work in group to share their
feelings and opinions of the assigned reading.
3. Provide reading assignments and activities to develop creative thinking
skills.

1. 利用字根、字首、字尾幫助學生記憶單字。
2. 幫助學生熟悉英文閱讀技巧,例如根據上下文判斷字義。
3. 培養獨立閱讀英文文章之能力,例如如何掌握文章大意。
4. 練習運用工具書。
5. 閱讀不同類型的文章,強化學生辨識文章組織結構之能力。
6. 文章題材可包含教育、文化、語言學習、媒體、電影、科技、藝術、全球化、社會科學等各類型文章。

1. Students learn words using meaningful word parts: roots, prefixes, and suffixes.
2. Students learn English reading skills, such as getting the meaning of words from context.
3. Students develop the ability to read English articles independently, such as understanding the main idea.
4. Students practice using reference books.
5. Students read different types of articles to enhance the ability of identifying text structure.
6. The topics of reading articles may include education, culture, language learning, media, film, technology, art, globalization, and social sciences.
