Extended role plays with freer creative input on ideas and scripts
The general aim is to help students to be able to:
speak clearly in a way which suits the situation; make requests and ask questions to obtain information in familiar and unfamiliar contexts; express clearly statements of fact, explanations, instructions, accounts and descriptions; present information and ideas in a logical sequence and include detail and develop ideas where appropriate; follow and contribute to discussions on a range of straightforward topics; make contributions relevant to the situation and the subject; use appropriate phrases for interruption; make brief oral presentations in class (~5 min)

Pronunciation – stress, intonation, emphasis, and cadence
Group role plays: Freer creative input on ideas and scripts, simple sketches
Individual presentations: Informative presentation
Speaking topics: Wider range of topics, both familiar and unfamiliar. Development of extended pair and group discourse. Attention to common errors and areas of difficulty.
Speaking functions: Speaking tasks designed to highlight key areas of common problems faced by students
e.g. tenses, prepositions, question forms, using vocabulary in context
