For first year writing core courses, the curriculum would focus on the mechanics of writing, for example, recognizing and writing complete sentence, identifying topics and main ideas, developing paragraph, brainstorming skills, knowing how to use indentation and punctuation. Thus, paragraph writing takes students from sentence formation to paragraph writing through a process approach. This not only develops students’ paragraph writing skills, but also encourages them to become independent and creative writers.

Following are some guidelines for Freshmen writing core course.
1.Formatting for handwritten and word-processed assignments.
2.Recognizing and writing complete sentences.
3.Knowing sentence structure for example compound sentences, dependent clauses,
independent clauses, and complex sentences
4.Knowing sentence structure for example compound sentences, dependent clauses,
independent clauses, and complex sentences
5.Identifying the topics and main ideas of a paragraph
6.Knowing the organization of a paragraph
7.Knowing how to write topic sentence, supporting topic sentences and concluding
sentence
8.Mastering Mechanical skills like capitalization rules, punctuation rules and
