課程概述
The Communicative approach based on content-based themes would be the curriculum for level 3 writing courses. As students gain the knowledge of basic writing strategies and skills, it would be a good idea to give students intellectually challenging and emotional appealing material to generate their enthusiasm. Content-based themes encourage the kind of critical thinking that students are expected to do across the curriculum in college. It would provide students who lack some of the analytical skills needed to do academic work with experience in analyzing ideas, making inferences, supporting opinions, understanding points of view, and writing for different audiences. As students reason to write, they practice the skills and strategies that are vital for academic success, and they have an opportunity to write on a wide variety of themes that reflect the academic curriculum.
課程目標
Third year: Students should be able to write essays or reports in English at an intermediate to advanced level. Following are some guidelines for third-year writing core courses.
1. Applying and practicing the writing strategies learned in the first and second year to academic writing.
2. Knowing how to write a formal letter
3. Observing samples of academic writing and practicing writing academic styles
4. Practicing answering examination-type questions for public or internal exams
5. Knowing how to write research reports
6. Knowing how to paraphrase and summarize
7. Knowing how to write quotations and referencing
8. Knowing how to generalize about the information
9. Knowing how to make a qualification by giving their own opinion or interpreting the information
10. Knowing how to use :”cautious” language

英文大綱
We begin with review and basic organizational principles, and then move through increasingly difficult writing assignments, each building on the skills of the last. Eventually students will be expected to be able to produce a five paragraph essay on a new topic in one hour and fifteen minutes. Student groups will each present a grammar lesson once in the semester (8 of the 16 weeks).
